Why
Notes was born from necessity. I use Notational Velocity at home on my Mac to manage my ideas, notes and pretty much everything that can be written down as plain text. I also use Simplenote to do exactly the same on my iPhone.
Then, a few months ago, Notational Velocity began supporting synchronization with Simplenote and my life was simplified.
However, at work I am still trapped in the corporate world of Windows and there wasn’t a good solution similar to Notational Velocity, so I wrote my own. Then I added Simplenote support.
A simple application
There aren’t many features, Notes is simple software. The few there are include:
- Plain text database
- On the fly note saving, no need to remember filenames or locations
- A portable app with no external DLLs or other installation hell. Copy the directory to your flash drive and take it with you
- Database export function that will save each note as a single plain text file for archiving
- A UI that is simple by default (if you press F9 you can even hide the toolbar) and keyboard driven. You can leave your mouse home.
Enjoy. Notes is free.
Simplenote synchronization
Notes can sync with Simplenote, so you can truly take your notes everywhere.
